Officer of the Watch (Yachts) - General Ship Knowledge

Duration: Five days

Prerequisites: 

  • RYA/IYT Yacht master Offshore certificate or higher 
  • STCW Basic Safety Training (PST, PSSR, EFA, FP&FF) 
  • Efficient Deck Hand
  • Appropriate seatime to obtain NOE from MCA

Accreditation/Approvals: MCA

Overviews: The General Ship Knowledge Module is one of a set of MCA approved Courses aimed at holders of a Yacht master Ocean or Offshore certificates seeking a UK OOW (Yacht) Deck Certificate of Competency. This preparatory course covers topics required for the exam on ship construction, stability, meteorology, seamanship, watch keeping, preparing vessel for sea and maintenance.

Officer of the Watch (Yachts) - Navigation and Radar

Duration: 15 days (ten days theory and five days simulation)

Prerequisites:

  • RYA/IYT Yacht master Offshore certificate or higher 
  • STCW Basic Safety Training (PST, PSSR, EFA, FP&FF) 
  • Appropriate seatime to obtain NOE from MCA

Accreditation/Approvals: MCA

Overviews: The Navigation, ARPA & Radar Simulator Module is one of a set of MCA approved Courses aimed at holders of a Yachtmaster Ocean or Offshore certificates seeking a UK OOW (Yacht) Deck Certificate of Competency.

Duration: Ten days

Prerequisites: Appropriate seatime to obtain NOE from MCA ECDIS Course Certificate

Duration: Five days

Prerequisites: Appropriate seatime to obtain NOE from MCA

Accreditation/Approvals: None

Overviews: This course is designed to prepare candidates for their OOW (Yacht) deck and/or master (Yacht) oral examination. Ideally, this course should be attended by those who have passed their written modules as well as completed all the short courses required for the CoC.
