Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (STCW A-VI/2-2)

Duration: Three days

Prerequisites: PSCRB or Updating PSCRB Certificate not older than 5 years ENG1 medical certificate, or equivalent, as an indicator of fitness or an assessment for fitness carried out by LJMU

Accreditation/Approvals: MCA as per the STCW Code section STCW A-VI/2-2

Overviews: Some ships are required to be fitted with FAST rescue boats whereas others only require rescue boats. Crew of the Fast Rescue Boats (FRBs) must undertake this training prior to being assigned duties to operate their Fast Rescue Boats. 

Not only to comply with the mandatory STCW training requirements but also to meet the of industry needs, this three day course is designed to enable the holders of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats) to build their skills for FRB operations. The course uses the classroom time for gaining the underpinning knowledge for FRB operations whilst this knowledge is put into practice using boats representative of SOLAS FRBs.
