Sean has been a full-time Senior Lecturer in the Law School since 2007.
Sean teaches on various modules over a range of programmes:
On the Legal Practice Course, he is subject leader for Civil Litigation, Business Accounts, Interviewing & Advising and the Housing Law & Practice Elective and also teaches Professional Conduct & Regulation, Solicitors Accounts, Drafting and Legal Research.
On the LLM in Qualifying Law, he is joint module leader for English Legal System & Legal Research and a member of the Public Law teaching team.
On the LLB, he teaches Public Law and Independent Learning in Law.
He is also available to supervise dissertations in appropriate subject areas on the LLM in Legal Practice.
Before joining LJMU, Sean had practiced as a solicitor since 1996, specialising in Housing Law. He had an earlier career working as a welfare rights specialist in the voluntary advice sector. This work led him to develop an interest in law and eventually take the decision to pursue a professional career as a lawyer.
Sean retains a particular interest in housing law and more generally in the public law remedy of judicial review.
Sean retains his solicitors practising certificate. He is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and of the Liverpool Law Society. He is a also a member of the North West Housing Law Practitioners Association.
Sean is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
