I moved into academia in 2003 after a successful career in mental health social work. This role included a period as a Community Mental Health Team manager and as a practising Approved Social Worker. I have also worked in a generic social work team and in child protection. I am still actively involved in the mental health community and, for example, chair ‘reVision’ which is an organisation which seeks to advocate for the social model of mental health. My passion for mental health is rooted in my own life experiences.
