As Head of Year 1 in Initial Teacher Education at Liverpool John Moores University, I have responsibility for the first year Undergraduates starting their journey to becoming primary school teachers. I oversee their induction and settling into a 3 year degree programme to Qualified Teacher Status at Primary level within the School of Education. I also teach Primary and Early Years Science Subject Knowledge and Pedagogies on the PGCE/DE programmes.
I am a former Primary Teacher and I gained my Primary BEd (Hons) and PhD in Education Management at LJMU. I have 20 years experience of teaching in a variety of primary schools across Liverpool. My research interests focus on:
1. Partnership and peer mentoring programmes for trainee teachers and newly qualified teachers (NQTs);
2. Effective models of Educational Leadership and Management in a climate of constant educational change;
3. Dynamic teaching and learning models in primary education and curriculum design, with special interest in Constructivist approaches to teaching science.
