Biography

I joined the academic team at Liverpool John Moores University in 2004, teaching on both pre-registration and post-registration programmes. I am currently involved in developing and delivering teaching and learning for health, social care and education partners across the region specific to children and young peoples mental health and well being.

I am the programme Leader for the MA Mental Health [https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/courses/postgraduates/mental-health]a regionally unique multi agency/professional programme aimed at developing knowledge and enhancing research around mental health issues in society. My teaching interests include mental health, children and young peoples mental health, schools and mental health, integration of systemic approaches in health, social care & education and clinical governance, leadership & management.

My clinical practice has been maintained (on an honorary basis) throughout my time in higher education. Working as a mental health nurse practitioner for a local NHS Trust in the field of adult community mental health services, Primary Care CAMHS, Tier 3 CAMHS; specialist eating disorder services (outpatient); specialist eating disorder services (in patient adolescent) and since 2015 Early Intervention Psychosis Services.

I qualified as a Systemic Family Psychotherapist in 2011 and worked in that role in CAMHS, Specialist Eating Disorders Service and currently with the Early Intervention Psychosis Services. I commenced a Professional Doctorate in Systemic Practice at Bedfordshire University in September 2016, my practice research focuses on the family's experience of psychosis.

Since 2015, I have worked in partnership with a local Mental Health NHS Trust alongside the nursing executive team focusing on clinical governance projects 1-2 days per week completing projects related, but not limited to: -
