Tuition fees for postgraduate students

How much will my tuition fees be?

Below you'll find information about tuition fees for international postgraduates. Remember, if you are a former Liverpool John Moores University student, you may have received a 15% tuition fee discount.

Fees for international postgraduate students who began in 2015/16 or before:

LJMU Alumni Award

The LJMU Alumni Award is a tuition fee discount that rewards LJMU undergraduates who go onto study at postgraduate level.

If you’re a former Liverpool John Moores University student, and you start a postgraduate course in 2016, you will be eligible for a 20% discount on your postgraduate tuition fees. The fee reduction is applied automatically to eligible students who start a postgraduate course from September 2016 onwards. You did not need to apply. 

Eligibility

  • You have successfully completed a degree programme from Liverpool John Moores University
  • The Award can apply to either a taught masters of a research degree programme
  • You can either be paying your own fees or be in receipt of sponsorship (see Exclusions below)
  • The LJMU Alumni Award is open to students from the UK, EU or international students

Exclusions

  • PGC/DE (initial teacher education) programmes, PG Dip Architecture/March Architecture are excluded as fees are charged at an undergraduate rate
  • Students who receive a fee bursary for the following programmes will be excluded: MA Social Work, MSc Environmental Planning
  • CPD programmes are excluded
  • Liverpool John Moores University staff who are fully sponsored under the University’s Staff Development Policy will be excluded
  • Students in receipt of an LJMU Fee Scholarship will not be able to receive both awards and will be allocated the Award with the highest value

Please note: If you started your postgraduate course in 2015 or earlier, a 15% reduction will be applied to your tuition fees.  MArch students that started in 2015 are not eligible for the LJMU Alumni Award, but will be considered for an LJMU bursary subject to certain eligibility criteria.  

How to pay your fees

You can either:

  • pay your tuition fees in full when you register
  • pay 50% of your tuition fees when you register and pay the rest in four months’ time
