Funding for teacher training students
If you’re a trainee teacher you could be entitled to a bursary.
As a student on a PGDE course, you’ll be funded in the same way as an undergraduate. This includes:
- A non-means-tested student loan to cover your tuition fees
- A means-tested student loan to help cover your living expenses
Value: Up to £30,000
As well as the funding listed above, you may be eligible for a teacher training bursary of up to £30,000 (tax-free). The availability of this bursary and its value is dependent on your degree classification and the subject you plan to teach in.
You’ll find more information about the bursary on the government Get Into Teaching site.
School Direct course
LJMU offers salaried and non-salaried routes into primary and secondary teaching.
For the salaried route, you could earn up to £25,000 while training. You'll find more information about the School Direct courses on the Get Into Teaching site.
