Free access to Tate Liverpool exhibitions
It’s modern, it’s bold and it’s packed to the rafters with artwork that makes the world sit up and pay attention – that’s Tate Liverpool.
As a Liverpool John Moores University student, you get free access to all of Tate Liverpool’s exhibitions, plus 10% discount in the Tate Liverpool café and shop. You'll also be entitled to free entry at all the ticketed exhibitions at Tate Britain and Tate Modern in London. Recent exhibitions featured the works of Matisse, Klimt, Pollock, Turner and Warhol. Forthcoming exhibitions at Tate Liverpool will feature the artists Francis Bacon and Yves Klein.
LJMU students can get free entry by downloading the voucher and taking it to Tate Liverpool along with their student ID card.
Free gym membership at Lifestyles Fitness Centres
Whilst you study with us we don’t want to just help feed your mind and improve your career prospects, we also want to help you take care of yourself. One way we do that is by providing free gym memberships to our students.
At one of 14 Lifestyles Fitness Centres across the city you can:
- Swim in an Olympic-sized pool
- Use two golf courses

Free tickets to films and orchestra concerts at the Liverpool Philharmonic
Watching a film at the Liverpool Philharmonic is an unforgettable experience: see the latest releases and movie classics on the unique cinema screen which rises from the stage of the beautiful art deco Liverpool Philharmonic Hall – plus, thanks to our partnership with Liverpool Philharmonic, students can get two free tickets.
You may be a huge classical music fan, or you may never have listened to a symphony in your life. No matter what your musical background we can guarantee one thing – you’ll be moved by the sheer energy and power of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s commanding performances. LJMU students get the opportunity to attend select Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra performances for free and enjoy generous discounts on many others. Trust us, they’re well worth listening to.

Free tickets at the Royal Court Theatre
If you want to see some of the best comedy in town, you’ll love the Royal Court Theatre, which is renowned for its packed programme of hilarious comedies. As a student at Liverpool John Moores University you’ll get free tickets for these shows. The latest ticket offers will be highlighted on the student website.
Discounted tickets at the Everyman and Playhouse Theatre
The Everyman and Playhouse are two distinct theatres which work together to provide their audiences with stimulating productions. Our partnership with the Everyman and Playhouse theatres means you get discounted tickets, a 10% discount on food served in the Everyman Bistro and Café, as well as first refusal for work placements and access to workshops.
You can also get access to special career development sessions for arts marketing, journalism and technical theatre.
Recently the BBC created a radio documentary about the Everyman Theatre. It’s a great listen and gives you a sense of the personality and cultural significance of the Everyman Theatre.
For two days and nights, Sound City 2016 took over the abandoned docklands of Liverpool, breathing new life into the iconic centre of Liverpool’s industrial heritage. Hundreds of amazing bands ignited this new repurposed cultural metropolis for an unforgettable festival, raising thunderous stages alongside the banks of the Mersey and kick-starting an electrifying party in one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes the city has to offer. The UK's international music and digital business conference, Sound City + took place at the Titanic Hotel and featured special industry speakers, talks, interactive workshops and panel debates.
By working in partnership with Sound City, we are able to offer students and staff an exclusive discount of 10% off ticket prices.
Discounted tickets to sporting events
Want to get your hands on some Premier League football tickets? As a Liverpool John Moores University student, you’ll get discounts for sporting events, including selected Everton FC matches and tickets for rugby and tennis. Opportunities to get discounted tickets will be highlighted on the student website.
We’re proud sponsors of Homotopia, which is one of Europe’s leading queer arts festivals. Our sponsorship of Homotopia means that Liverpool John Moores University students can become one of the festival's marketing or design interns, help curate exhibitions and take part in debates, masterclasses and drama workshops.
