The Inaugural Faculty TEL Forum – Exploring Virtual Reality

“There are as many applications for VR (virtual reality) as you can think of, it’s restricted by your imagination”

John Goddard, HTC Vive

We would like to announce the first in a series of Faculty TEL (technology enhanced learning) forum meetings starting Tuesday 23rd May. It is hoped that this forum will provide a useful space for the discussion of technology enhanced learning practice both within and outside of the faculty.

VR headsetThe first one hour meeting will explore the intriguing topic of virtual reality as a learning tool.  It will offer a chance to engage with various forms of virtual reality, including the equipment and software we have in the Faculty. In addition, colleagues will talk about their engagement with VR (the types of use might surprise you).  This is designed to facilitate discussion about the possibilities of this tech in relation to pedagogy and our research interests.

This is a lunch time forum so you are welcome to bring your sandwiches, however refreshments and biscuits will be provided. The first meeting will be held in IM Marsh on the 23rd May 12-1pm B002. To confirm your interest in attending please click on the link above and press send.

If you have a newish smartphone feel free to bring it along fully charged as there will be an opportunity to experience some bring your own device (BYOD) VR solutions as well.

This topic will be repeated in the second TEL forum meeting held in Tithebarn on the 6th June 12-1 room tbc.  Click on the link above and press send if you are interested in attending this meeting.
