Information for students

Page last updated: 19 July 2021

To ensure staff and student safety and to access university premises, students will be encouraged to take two COVID-19 tests over a seven day period. For further details of Liverpool City Council SMART testing centres, please click here.

We also encourage all students to be vaccinated. Information on how to obtain an appointment – for both home and international students – is available here.

In light of the current situation with COVID-19 and the associated Government restrictions, teaching will remain online for the rest of the semester.  The only exceptions are those clinical or professional programmes exempted by the Government.

We have not taken this decision lightly but, with no indication of when Government lockdown measures will ease, we had no choice.

In the context of recent developments, it is simply impossible to forecast when face-to-face teaching can resume this academic year and we felt that you need clarity and reassurance on how your programme will be delivered this semester.

This decision, as with every decision we have made throughout this pandemic, has been made with your safety and wellbeing as our absolute top priority. We will continue to do everything we possibly can to support you and guide you through your studies.

If you are studying one of the clinical or professional programmes classed as exempt by the Government, you will continue face-to-face teaching in a COVID-safe environment on campus. You will continue to receive information and guidance directly from your programme team.

For all other students, please continue to follow the Government’s guidance and study remotely at your current address.

You can also find information to frequently asked questions in the tiles below.

Please also refer to the JMSU website for further information and guidance. You can access the latest guidance from the NHSUK Government and World Health Organisation.

If you have any questions, concerns or need any support, please call our COVID-19 helpline on 0151 904 1111. Lines are open from 10.00am – 4.00pm, Monday to Friday.
