Sensor Development
The group is focusing on the development of various sensor technologies for applications presented in the main research themes in order to address the current sustainability goals, climate change and reduction of carbon footprint.
The group is specialising in:
- Theoretical simulation of bespoke sensors
- Industrial scale prototyping
- In-line Microwave Sensor applications
- Microwave processing and pre-processing of materials
- Structural Health Monitoring
- Water quality monitoring
The Sensor Development Research Theme has a very successful history for applying their specialism into real-world applications and has completed research projects funded by the UK Ministry of Defence, Carbon Trust, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The research theme has also received direct funding from industry for projects related to process enhancement, non-invasive sensing for built environment with the TRL level ranging from 1 to 8.
