1. IT upgrades coming your way

   During the summer, IT services will be delivering an upgrade to Microsoft Office and Google Chrome will become the default browser.

2. Essential upgrades to IT network

   Over the next week, LJMU’s IT Services team will be carrying out essential upgrades to our network infrastructure on campus.

3. Windows upgrade: action required from all staff

   All staff need to be aware of an important upgrade required on managed laptops and desktops – this is an upgrade to Windows 11 and needs to be in place before the start of the new academic year (31 August 2025).

4. Student Information System Upgrade

   The University’s Student Information System (SIS) is being upgraded. SIS will be unavailable during the upgrade, from 5pm on Thursday 21st November until 8am on Tuesday 26th November.

5. Update to IT services: IT disruption expected Saturday 24 August

   As part of LJMU security upgrades, key platforms including Canvas, Staff Infobase and parts of the LJMU website will be unavailable on 24 August.

6. EndNote software upgrade

   This summer EndNote Desktop software is being upgraded from EndNote X9 to EndNote 20.

7. Staff Infobase (Oracle E-Business Suite) is being upgraded

   Staff Infobase (Oracle E-Business Suite) is being upgraded over the Easter weekend. The upgraded system will be available by 8am on Tuesday 6th April. The upgrade will move the system to the latest version of the software, ensuring that it remains up-to-date and continues to effectively support the University's business.

9. New funding for The Pandemic Institute’s Liverpool – Hong Kong Partnership

   LJMU, University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine partner three Hong Kong universities after investment from The Shaw Foundation.

10. LJMU supports Hong Kong Community with Progression to HE Opportunities

    LJMU’s Outreach Team has continued their work with the Hong Kong community based in Warrington. The team held an event last week to support the community and share access to Higher Educations options, within the region.
