Developments in Negotiated Work-Based Learning: Fundamentals of General Practice Nursing
Level 7, 20 Credits
To enable general practice nurses (GPNs) to maximise learning opportunities and experiences relevant to their own area of work, in order to facilitate career and professional development. The programme is intended for practitioners who are new to, or within a year of starting, the role of practice nurse.
The programme runs over one semester and consists of timetabled face-to-face sessions, self-directed and work-based learning. Support is provided via either tutorials, email or the virtual learning environment.
The cost for this CPD module is £40.00 per credit through the CPD apply route or £35.00 per credit through the self-funded route.
You will be required to attend taught sessions at Liverpool John Moores University Monday to Friday 9.00am - 4.30pm in the first week only. After that you do not have to attend as the majority of this course will be distance learning.
This is a student negotiated programme which combines taught sessions and student-led learning (which may include work-based and distance learning).
You will be supported to identify your knowledge and existing skills in relation to the GPN competency framework and create an action plan for your professional and academic development.

The Level 7 Fundamentals of General Nursing programme is assessed via portfolio.
You will be a registered nurse, working in a general practice setting. For Level 7 students, it is anticipated that you will have completed a degree.
This Continuing Professional Development module is stand-alone and is not within a wider award framework.
