Software Engineer Degree Apprenticeship

Employer: 360 Systems Limited

Role description: 360 Systems are looking for school leavers from Cheshire, Wirral, Merseyside, Warrington or North Wales with strong A-Level maths to take on as Software Engineer Degree Apprentices.

Applicants know they want a career as a Web App Developer. They relish the challenge of building commercial software for 360 Systems clients and studying the theory they are putting into practice during day release to LJMU.

If you have already built some apps or a website outside of the classroom, a BSc Digital and Technology Degree Apprenticeship should be a serious option for you.

This is a rewarding career path in a challenging educational and work environment.

As a Degree Apprentice, you will follow the same track as the company's graduate intake, working with our experienced Full Stack Developers, taking an active part in projects and rapidly improving your software development skills.

You'll start off with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript for front end development and then C# for the back end server side code. This is the start of our fast track programme to turning you into a commercial web developer using Angular, Material, Microsoft .NET and the Azure Cloud platform.

About the employer: 360 Systems is a Microsoft Business Partner providing web and mobile web development services to UK companies. Since 1999 they have been building bespoke web systems and websites for clients such as Hitachi, London Fire Brigade, Cheshire Police and Pertemps. Applications and support expertise are available to use on premise or in the Microsoft Azure Cloud.

Start date: 1 July 2019

Salary: £14,000 annually

  • Must have obtained grade 4 or grade C or above in English Language and mathematics GCSE
  • Strong A-Level maths or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum 112 UCAS points

Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Employer: Bowmer + Kirkland Ltd

Role description: As a Trainee QS, you will be working as an integral part of the project team. Under the supervision of a Project QS, you will gain commercial experience whilst providing key technical support in the financial management of a live construction project.

There will be opportunities to work with highly skilled experts in all areas of the business. With coaching and mentoring you will be given opportunities and challenges to enable you to progress your career in a supportive, fast paced and exciting environment.


In addition to the job role described above, the candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Completing measurement and assisting with the preparation of Bills of Quantities
  • Producing tender enquiries for issue to the supply chain in order to assist with the procurement of subcontractors
  • Carrying out the analysis of subcontractor quotations
  • Producing payments and issuing associated notices to suppliers and subcontractors
  • Collation of records required to substantiate additional payment

Bowmer + Kirkland is one of the largest and most successful privately owned construction and development groups in the UK.

The role is for the North West Construction Region of the company based out of Manchester. We also have regional offices in Reading, Motherwell, Glasgow and our head office is based in Derbyshire.

The group is involved in a range of exciting and challenging projects in all areas of construction and engineering. We have built some of the most stunning office accommodation in the U.K. including an energy efficient solar powered building and have designed, built and refurbished a wide range of hotels. Some of the prestigious projects we have worked on include the National Football Centre at St. George’s Park and the Hotel Indigo in central Manchester.

Start date: September 2019

Salary: Competitive salary, which is reviewed twice annually, whilst training.
