Introducing 'Roamio'
Rethinking mobility for everyday independence
by Sophie Iveson
Level 6 Product Design Engineering Student
Rooted in real insights from the Merseyside community, Roamio is Sophie’s final-year Product Design Engineering project, a smart mobility aid designed to empower individuals with limited mobility through thoughtful, functional design.
Sophie began her project by engaging directly with users, gathering feedback to understand their day-to-day challenges, frustrations, and unmet needs when using traditional mobility aids.
The result? Roamio, a next-generation device that’s more than just support; it’s an integrated companion for confident, independent travel.
What sets Roamio apart is its range of smart features, including Bluetooth-enabled data transfer to a companion app, giving users and carers real-time insights on usage, movement, and activity levels.
Compact, user-friendly, and built with ergonomic precision, Roamio bridges the gap between mobility and smart technology.
