New student registration and student ID cards September 2025

Have you uploaded a photo for your student ID card yet?

Do this as part of your online registration by Friday 5 September and you’ll get yours sent to your home address via Royal Mail tracked delivery. If you register after this date, you’ll be able to collect yours from a pop-up collection hub once you arrive on campus.

Early starting postgraduate teaching and law students, you will be able to collect your ID card on campus during your earlier induction.

International students, you can collect yours during your international welcome events and induction

Your IT account and student ID card: Your LJMU IT account is for your use only. During your registration, you will be asked to set a secure password – it’s very important that you set this to something you will remember, as you will need it to access all our IT systems. If you forget your password, you will need some information from your student ID card to reset it, so you must always keep your ID card safe, like you would your bank card. You will need it to access university buildings, use our printers and more.

No card, no access

It's compulsory to bring your ID on to campus, you'll need it to access all of our buildings and lecture theatres and to use our facilities, so make sure to keep it on you at all times.

You won't be granted access without it.

Plus, you can use your student ID card to get 20% off at all Core Cafes on campus.

Returning students what to do if you have lost or misplaced your student ID card

Students returning to LJMU without their student ID card will need to be issued with a new one. This must be done ahead of trying to access any buildings on campus, attending university lectures or using any services.

First you need to request a new student ID card using the ‘request ID card replacement’ form on My LJMU. We’ll then send you a confirmation text to let you know that your new ID is ready for collection.

Replacement student IDs can be collected anytime from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, in either The Library: Mount Pleasant Campus (formerly Aldham Robarts) or The Library: City Campus (formerly Avril Robarts).
