    At the Public Health Institute we provide advice to policymakers in consideration of the relationship between the environment and public health. Projects include: the use of parks, climate change, economic benefits of green infrastructure and evaluation of green projects for the community.

    Our research is applicable to clinical and sport and exercise biomechanics. Our focus includes: musculo-skeletal growth and development, gait analysis, virtual rehabilitation, postural stability, footwear biomechanics, and artificial neural networks.

  5. Cardiovascular Health Sciences Research Group

    Our research aims to improve cardiovascular health via exercise training and physical activity. Our two main areas of expertise are cardiac function and structure and vascular function and structure in health and disease.

  6. Applied Physiology Nutrition and Metabolism Group

    The Applied Physiology Nutrition and Metabolism Group within RISES are involved in health, wellbeing, recovery and sporting performance. Our research into exercise metabolism and adaptation is applicable to the design of interventions that improve human health.

  7. Physical Activity Exchange

    Our research is applied in nature and is focused on physical activity, sedentary behaviour, fitness and health in laboratory and various real world settings.

  8. Computational and theoretical galaxy formation

    The computational and theoretical galaxy formation group within the Astrophysics Research Institute uses state-of-the-art simulations on supercomputing facilities. Find out more about our research.
