1. New staff facilities now open

   A new staff lounge is now open in Byrom Street as part of a programme of works to enhance facilities in our City Campus.

   LJMU’s James Parsons Building is getting a host of new facilities to enhance the teaching, learning and research environment for students and staff.

3. Windows upgrade: action required from all staff

   All staff need to be aware of an important upgrade required on managed laptops and desktops – this is an upgrade to Windows 11 and needs to be in place before the start of the new academic year (31 August 2025).

   From this month LJMU will begin publishing all student and staff security card photos into Microsofts 365 suite of products.

5. New templates for the nomination of external examiners

   Now incorporating a dedicated template to nominate external examiners from industry or practice.

6. Aldham Robarts Library to remain closed on Sundays until end of 2023

   Staff and students can access alternate library services at the Student Life Building or visit the Avril Robarts Library on Sundays.

7. New LJMU intranet launched

   Staff and student homepages get new look and feel with improvements in access to news, announcements and quick links

8. Restrictions on using USBs for students and staff

   From 4 September students will be no longer able to use USB storage devices on LJMU equipment. This is alongside the restrictions already in place for staff.

9. Library Fest 2026

   Discover something new and get inspired with LJMU Library this February and March.

10. People with a passion for higher education needed for LJMU governor roles
