VC becomes Deputy Lieutenant of Merseyside

LJMU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nigel Weatherill, has been made Deputy Lieutenant in the County of Merseyside, recognising his contribution to the region.
He was appointed by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside Dame Lorna EF Muirhead DBE at a Commissioning Ceremony in the Athenaeum.
Present at the Service was the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, David McDonnell CBE DL, and the High Sheriff of Merseyside, Mr James Davie OBE DL.
Deputy Lieutenants assist the Lord-Lieutenant in carrying out her role as The Queen’s Representative. Due to their expertise and role within the community, they are asked to assist with a range of issues including Honours nominations, assessments for The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, suggesting names for Royal Garden Parties and participation in citizenship ceremonies.
