eDoc - A new postgraduate online progression system

The Vice Chancellor and the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer joined the launch of the University’s bespoke postgraduate research progression system

The Vice Chancellor and the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer joined the launch of the University’s bespoke postgraduate research progression system, eDoc on March 11th in the Pavilion Café.

Prof Julie Sheldon, Dean of the Doctoral Academy, commented, ‘Rolling out a new IT system is always challenging, but we have been fortunate to work in tandem with highly talented colleagues from Faculties and Professional Services in the architecture planning, application testing, installation, configuration and user acceptance testing of eDoc.’

eDoc’s launch coincided with the centenary of the PhD qualification in the UK. On 11 March 1920 James Bronte Gatenby’s research on “The Cyto-Plasmic Inclusions of the Germ Cells” at the University of Oxford was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy.
