Official launch of the Unicaf and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) Partnership

LJMU is delighted to announce the launch of its partnership with Unicaf in Cyprus.  Unicaf is a global, online learning organisation, which offers scholarships to talented students who do not have the funding to access higher education.  To date Unicaf has awarded scholarships to the value of around $100 million to over 30,000 applicants in 156 countries.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Unicaf, Dr. Nicos Nicolaou, remarked "Giving access to quality higher education to underserved populations has always been in the heart of what we do.  This is the reason Unicaf is working in partnership with the Liverpool John Moores University to make first-class higher education available online to some of the world’s poorest communities at an affordable cost.  Unicaf is one of the world’s most innovative organisations with huge experience in providing quality learning using the power of technology. The partnership between Unicaf and LJMU, one of the best universities in the UK, will bring high-quality education courses which will equip people with the skills needed to make a real difference in their own community".

Unicaf, through its Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), allows students access to online learning materials, allowing them to successfully complete LJMU postgraduate awards.  The first programme to be validated for online delivery with Unicaf is MA Educational Leadership.  MA Educational Leadership Programme Leader, Dr Ceri Daniels said "Earlier this year, the School of Education in the Faculty of APSS worked with our new collaborative partners Unicaf Ltd, to validate an MA Leadership in Education programme. We were delighted to lead the first programme to be successfully validated in a wave of franchise proposals agreed with Unicaf for delivering LJMU Masters provision. This is a unique partnership with an institution that clearly shares our ambition for extending the reach of the School's high quality postgraduate qualifications to current and aspiring leaders delivering transformative education.  The fully online programme is targeted across sub-Saharan Africa - and indeed globally, with our hallmark quality standards in education assured through an advanced digital platform and experienced tutor team. It has been a privilege to work in collaboration with the team at Unicaf and we are excited to be welcoming the first cohort of Leadership in Education students to LJMU in a couple of weeks’ time".

Other subject areas in the pipeline include Mass Communications, International Relations, International Public Health, International Education, Human Resource Management and Digital Marketing.
