Tips for moving into your student accommodation

Maya, a former LJMU student who now works in our accommodation team, gives those all important tips for moving into your new student accommodation.

I was a student at LJMU and studied BSc Criminology & Psychology. I graduated in 2020 and loved my time in Liverpool and at LJMU and I'm sure you will too!

Moving in can be daunting and exciting at the same time so here are my top tips to make it feel as easy as possible...

1.Make sure you know what date and time to arrive at your new accommodation. Feeling organised will make you feel less stressed on the day.

2.Learn to cook your favourite meals before you arrive. There are plenty of supermarkets nearby for your weekly food shop too.

3.Focus on bringing your home comforts – there's lots of budget friendly shops nearby to get essentials in the city.

4.Why not get involved in student events in your hall and in the city? Liverpool is an amazing community to be a part of. See some of what’s coming up here.

5.Homesickness is natural! If you find yourself missing home, chat to your flatmates and course mates – you’ll be surprised how many people feel the same.
