Managing LJMU Apple IDs

IT Services has developed a new approach to improve the way university-owned Apple devices are managed and supported.

In a new project launching in January, you will be able to login to Apple devices using your LJMU ID (eg j.testing@ljmu.ac.uk).

In order to do this, ITS needs to set up a relationship between LJMU and Apple. As part of this process, any personal Apple IDs that have been created as something@ljmu.ac.uk need to come under the university’s ownership.

If you have an Apple ID of the form something@ljmu.ac.uk, you will receive a notification from Apple asking you to change your ID to a personal address (eg a personal Gmail or Hotmail address).

Your password will remain the same and any purchases you have made will remain with your new ID. Apple will give you 60 days to complete this process before issuing you with a temporary username.

ITS will start to roll out this change from January 2023.
