Jamaica Making Exhibition: The Symposium, 14 April 2022

The first exhibition of wholly Jamaican art exhibited in North West England is to be discussed in a symposium hosted by Liverpool John Moores University.

Jamaica Making: The Theresa Roberts Art Collection exhibition at the Victoria Gallery & Museum runs until 9 July and features more than thirty artworks from the extensive collection of a Jamaican-born philanthropist.

Now, the academic who curated the exhibition has convened an academic discussion day on April 14, 10am - 4pm, held in person but also streamed live.

The day will feature artists and acadmeics from the Caribbean, the US and Britain.

Dr. Emma Roberts, Reader in History of Art & Design, at LJMU convened the interdiciplinary symposium which highlights themes that relate to popular music, fashion, fine art, curatorial theory and much more.

The symposium will take place at the Leggate Theatre, Victoria Gallery & Museum.

The event is open to all and you can register (for both online and in person attendance) here and see full schedule: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/jamaica-making-symposium-tickets-291398499757
