We’ve got an exciting schedule full of activities and events for you this September!

Welcome events will run across the month of September with the main Welcome Week taking place over induction week from Tuesday 20 - Friday 23 September for new and returning students. 

Please note the Freshers/ Welcome Week Programme and Induction timetables have now been amended due to Monday 19 September being declared a Bank Holiday for the Queen's funeral. No teaching or events will take place on this date.

From Outdoor Cinema evenings to BBQs and puppy yoga, all the events can be viewed and booked via the John Moores Students’ Union (JMSU) Freshers 22 microsite

Two of the main events not to miss will be on Wednesday 21 September in the Student Life Building with the Big Freshers Fiesta, (12-7pm)  and the Advice and Support Fair  (10am-4pm).

There will also be a free welcome goody bag which can be collected from JMSU Reception in the SLB 10-7pm on Wednesday 21 September, as well as lots of other freebies. 

Following induction week, teaching will begin on Monday 26 September, for all students following the standard academic calendar. Some courses like Nursing and Midwifery will start earlier.  

Students can also find out about joining JMSU sports teams and societies at the Nursing Mini Fair on 6 September and at the JMSU Freshers Fair at the M&S Bank Arena on Friday 30 September.

Saturday 17 September JMSU Hangout: IRL (SLB, 5-7pm) – Targeted at students living in halls as a welcome to LJMU.

Monday 19 September

Due to the funeral of Her Majesty the Queen, Monday 19 September will now be a bank holiday and no teaching or welcome week/freshers activities will take place on this day. Our libraries will open 10am-8pm. 

The Student Life Building will be open 24/7, as usual, and staff will be available 10am-4pm for students. 

Tuesday 20 September

When Life Gives You Lennons… (John Lennon, 12-2pm)

Visit our world-renowned art and design building and indulge in our fantastic and creative activities such as rug making, pottery and crazy golf whilst enjoying food such as street food and crepes.

Wednesday 21 September

The Big Fresher Fiesta (SLB, 12-7pm) including the Advice & Support Fair (SLB, 10-4pm)

Foster’s Feast (John Foster Common Room, 9-11am) including Paint Your Own Door Sign

Join us for a breakfast feast at the John Foster Building! You can also get to know your new freshers friends with our giant board games and twister.

LJMU Sports Experience (Sports Building, 12- 4pm)

Open event for students to experience and connect with sport and physical activity.

Book & Jewellery Sale (SLB, 9-5pm)

Pizza & Pacman (SLB, 12-4pm)

Get to know key services in LJMU with our services fair – here you will find contacts for Student Futures, SAW, libraries, Skills Hub, Start-up Hub, ID card registry, JMSU volunteering, JMSU Societies, IT, Unitemps, Brownlow Health, and more.

The Byrom Bonaza (James Parsons Building, 12-2pm) including Make Your Own Bookmark.

An afternoon like no other, we're filling it with funfair stalls, performances and not to mention lots of free food.

Our biggest event of the year! Here you can speak to all of our sports and societies and learn how to join as well as how to get involved with our volunteering and work experience opportunities. On top of this, you can speak with some of the most exciting brands in Liverpool (plus lots of freebies and dominos pizza!).

10:30-11am - Quiet Half Hour - We know that the noise and crowds at the event can be a bit much sometimes so we are running a quiet half hour.

11am-2pm - Morning Session

2pm-5pm - Afternoon Session
