"A joyous occasion" - volunteering at graduation

"It was such a joyous occasion and I felt part of everyone’s special day.”

Graduation is a momentous event for our students and their families and a wonderful celebration of their achievements – and it couldn’t be done without our staff volunteers.

We’re looking for colleagues to join us next month to make our March ceremonies occasions that our students and their families will always remember. You’ll find it an incredibly rewarding and enjoyable experience.

Claire Fell, LJMU’s Web Content Manager, volunteered at our ceremonies for the first time last year. Claire said: “I was a new member of staff and had only been in post for a few weeks but I jumped at the chance to help out at the graduations.

“It was such a joyous occasion and I felt part of everyone’s special day. The students beamed and their families beamed, the sense of achievement and celebration was palpable.

“It’s a busy time, but fun to do. I really got to see every perspective of the graduations - I ushered, took photographs, calmed nerves and chatted with proud grandparents. I loved it!”

We are looking for staff volunteers to work as ushers, banner bearers, first aid and fire wardens and to take part in the procession.

You can find out more here about those roles and what they involve.

You will need to register your attendance here by Monday 13 March.
