Andrea Pratt is a senior lecturer in initial teacher education at the University following a career working as a teacher of Art and Design in the FE sector for 15 years where she became interested in teacher education. She joined LJMU in 2009 to work in the now School of Education. Andrea’s current interests are professional learning contexts in teacher education and also supporting Masters Courses for teacher practitioners where she is currently the programme leader for the Masters in Education Practice. Andrea considers herself an early researcher and emerging publications demonstrate interests in collaboration and partnership with recent publications around the areas of engaging teaching, collaborative partnership and working on a national programme in partnership with the Equality and Human Rights Commission. Andrea was awarded a teaching excellence award for her work with the learning, teaching and assessment committee at LJMU in 2013 and in 2014 was awarded the individual award, the LJMU Vice-Chancellors award for teaching excellence for her work to enhance the student experience with distinction. Andrea’s further interests are contemporary issues in art, craft and design education preparing trainee teachers to provide meaningful opportunities to define and model an engaging curriculum and is an associate member of the National Society for Education in Art and Design.
