Sarah joined LJMU as a lecturer in Criminology in October 2014.
Sarah completed her PhD at the University of Liverpool with funding from the ESRC.
Her thesis explored the ways in which young people, aged between 10 and 17 years old, conceptualised and experienced policing, safety, security and harm.
The ethnographic study used multiple methods to elicit the experiences and perceptions of young through centre-based youth organisations and outreach work in two coastal resorts, one in England and one in Wales.
Sarah’s research interests include youth crime, youth justice, and the policing, social control and social exclusion of young people in public spaces.
Sarah is currently publishing outputs from her PhD research and has forthcoming publications in 2016 and 2017.
