Valerie’s professional industry experience includes private and public sector sport facility and events management. Since joining LJMU in 2007, she has had a range of roles including sport facilities supervisory team, student projects development manager and now teaches across the Events and Tourism programmes. Her research interests include the student HE experiences and using pedagogy to enhance student employability skills. This includes facilitating student experiences of group work to become more self-aware, and the development of emotional intelligence for future career opportunities. Contributions to curriculum design include seeking out and building new stakeholder relationships with industry partners to enhance employability opportunities for students. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy UK.
