Organisational Role and responsibilities

Teaching: Anita moved into legal education in July 1998 being appointed senior law lecturer at LJMU. Anita works on the LPC, GDL and LLB. She is joint module leader on LLB Land Law and also teaches on Equity and Succession. She teaches on Property Law and Practice, Commercial Property, Private Client, Accounts, Tax, Wills and Administration of Estates and Legal Research on the LPC. She is the subject leader for Tax and Business Accounts. She also teaches on the foundation subjects on the GDL and is part of the Land Law teaching team.

Administrative: She was appointed as the Deputy Course Leader on the LPC in August 2004 and was responsible for Admissions, Attendance and Assessments. Since July 2006 she has been the LPC Course Leader, the role expanding in May 2008 to encompass other Postgraduate Professional Courses, to become the Head of Professional Legal Studies. Since March 2009, she has also been carrying out the role of GDL Programme Leader.

In the academic year 2015 - 16, LJMU underwent a restructure of all its programmes and Anita was involved in the revalidation of both the LPC and GDL. The GDL programme undertook a major revision in that it was moved from level 6 to level 7 in order for students to be awarded a Master in Laws. Both validations were hugely successful and approved by the appropriate PSRBs.

Biography

After obtaining a dual degree in Physiology and Pharmacology from Sheffield University, Anita did the CPE and LSF and qualified as a solicitor in 1995. She worked after qualification in Preston in a Commercial Property department dealing mainly with site acquisitions for builder clients as well as dealing with the running of the plot sales. Anita continued working in the Northwest expanding her areas of law to include probate and residential conveyancing and was the department leader in a small practice for conveyancing and probate.

She has completed a Post - Graduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education and has just completed a LLM in the area of succession, co-habitation and other jurisdictions. She has been back into practice since starting at LJMU to keep updated in the areas of property and probate.

She is a member of Liverpool Law Society as well as being a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
