Faculty of Business and Law

Sarah completed a BA Honours degree in Law and German at the University of Wales College Cardiff. From there she went onto Bristol University to complete the LPC before qualifying as a solicitor in 1999. Sarah originally worked after qualification in a commercial property department in a London practice but decided that she would be far better suited to a life of crime!
Since 2001, Sarah has specialised in criminal defence work. Since that time she has advised and represented clients at police stations and conducted court hearings in Magistrates, Youth and Crown courts. Sarah is a Duty solicitor and is a Higher Court Advocate.
Throughout her career, Sarah has worked in a variety of criminal practices in London, Sheffield, Nottingham and Liverpool. She has played an active role in the training and supervision of trainee solicitors, solicitors and police station representatives wishing to acquire either the Police Station or Duty Solicitor accreditation qualifications. Sarah has also delivered interview training to trainee police officers in Merseyside.
Whilst employed by the Public Defender Service, Sarah provided a practitioner perspective to the Legal Service Commission and the Department of constitutional Affairs at workshops in London often giving presentations on aspects of Criminal Justice or procedures.
Sarah’s interest in sharing her legal knowledge with others has led to her branching out into legal education. She was appointed as a part-time senior lecturer with LJMU in September 2011. She teaches Criminal Litigation, Advanced Criminal Litigation, Advocacy, Legal Research and Interviewing & Advising on the LPC and Crime and Mooting on the LLM in Qualifying Law.
