Dr Tahsin Opoz

I am a senior lecturer in advanced manufacturing and have been working at the LJMU since 2012. I have published more than 30 papers including in top international journals and international conferences in the manufacturing field, particularly, micro-scale grinding processes, single grit cutting mechanism, finite element modelling and simulation of machining processes, micro/macro electrical discharge machining processes.

I am currently seeking motivated students in Engineering disciplines for PhD projects in the following topics:

- Enhancing the surface finish and integrity of Additively Manufactured metal parts (from Metal X Markforged 3D Printing system)

- Development of Bioactive and Antibacterial surfaces on titanium alloys for medical implant manufacturing

- Modelling and simulation of the micromachining process for efficient and sustainable manufacturing.

- Multiscale modelling (SPHM and FEM) of diamond abrasive cutting and analysis of material removal mechanisms.

- or any topics relevant to manufacturing processes (such as welding, grinding, metal cutting) will be considered for supervision.
