I am a lecturer in the Department of the Built Environment and is module leader for Construction Technology 2, Pathology & Inspection and Construction Technology though I teach across a range of construction courses. My current interests are centred around modern methods of construction sustainables/renewables and refurbishment. Fabric energy efficiency surveys, sustainable construction solutions, to minimising energy use in buildings through understanding of scientific solution, reduction of the use of fossil fuels and carbon emissions. Long-term sustainability targeted by maximising energy efficiency, to existing and new build dwellings though incorporation of renewable technologies, low-energy building technologies and energy conservation insulation solutions supporting EnerPHit and Passive House.
I originally come from a practical background, having begun his working life training as a time-served craftsman, progressing to project management roles on heritage buildings. I trained and qualified as a lecturer in 1987, entering the profession in 1983. I have considerable experience teaching and managing H.E. courses within education organisations.
I hold a BSc (Hons) degree, am a Chartered Building Engineer, Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Scientist and Fellow of the Institution of Environmental Sciences. I also have extensive experience as an external examiner on FdSc/HNC Sustainable Construction and the Built Environment programmes.
