Faculty of Engineering and Technology

Early career as a marine engineer working with merchant shipping companies Bibby Line, Denholm Ship Management and Royal Fleet Auxiliary. BEng (Mechanical Engineering) in 1989 and PhD in the area of contact mechanics in 1993, both from the University of Liverpool. Employed by Liverpool John Moores University as a Senior Lecturer in mechanical engineering in 1993. In 2004 became Principal Lecturer responsible for collaborative partnership programmes within the School of Engineering in the UK, Europe and Internationally. From 2021 employed as Associate Dean (Global Engagement) for the Faculty of Engineering and Technology responsible for international partnership activity, recruitment and student mobility. From 2022 employed as Subject Head for Undergraduate programmes (BEng/MEng) within the School of Engineering. Research interests are in the areas of structural integrity, application of finite element methods and bioengineering.
