I qualified and worked in Cumbria until 2015, covering an array of surgical specialities; orthopaedic, general, urology, breast, obstetrics and emergency surgery. Following this, I relocated to the Grampian region in Scotland and commenced as a scrub nurse within the neurosurgical speciality at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. I remained here until 2016, where I relocated once again to take up a post at The Walton Centre, furthering my knowledge and expertise within Neurosurgery. Towards the end of 2016 I took the role as a Sister within the department, specialising in skull base and vascular disciplines; working with a vast multidisciplinary team performing complex and intricate procedures.

In 2017 I was privileged to be part of the team opening the first intraoperative MRI theatre for adults within the North West of England, enhancing the care provided to patients. Leading the introduction and development of this within the nursing team, my passion for teaching and education grew. I have been involved in the training and development of staff within the perioperative field, which led me to study an MSc in Advanced Surgical Practice. Following this, a role within the Simulation team arose, enabling my knowledge of surgery and trauma care to be delivered within the current undergraduate simulation programme.
