Dr Rui De Medeiros Paulo

School of Psychology

I am a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University (UK). I have previously worked at Bath Spa University (UK) as a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the BSc in Forensic Psychology, as an Assistant Professor in Forensic Psychology at ISPA University (Portugal), as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Minho (Portugal), and as a Visiting Lecturer/ Researcher in other Universities in the UK and across the World.

My research is focused on cognition and memory (particularly eyewitness memory) and investigative interviewing of crime witnesses, victims, and suspects. I have coordinated many externally funded international research projects focused on developing and testing new retrieval strategies (e.g. clustering retrieval) to enhance eyewitness memory and improve police investigations. I supervised many postgraduate researchers, and I frequently collaborate with law enforcement, governmental agencies, and other Universities across the World. I am actively engaged with the research community namely as an editor, reviewer, and author of several articles in peer-reviewed journals, handbooks, and books.
