Biography

Dr David Low (Reader in Thermoregulatory Physiology) is an academic member of staff with teaching duties across physiology and major project modules within undergraduate and postgraduate degrees within the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences. David is a member of the Cardiovascular Health Sciences Research Group within the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences. His research investigates thermoregulatory physiology, especially cutaneous vascular function and structure in both healthy and diseased individuals, through collaborative work that trains/mentors colleagues/students and shares knowledge and technical expertise.

David completed his PhD in exercise physiology in 2004 in the Research Institute of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University. Thereafter he conducted Postdoctoral research fellowships, firstly, in the U.S at the Thermoregulatory Laboratory of the Institute of Exercise and Environmental Medicine, Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Texas under the mentorship of Dr Craig Crandall, followed by the Centre Sports Medicine and Human Performance at Brunel University under the mentorship of Professor Jose Gonzalez-Alonso. David then became the Clinical Research Lead at the Autonomic and Neurovascular Medicine Unit at St Marys Hospital (directed by Professor Chris Mathias), Imperial College London. He was then appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences in 2013.
