Dr Liz Mahon (Senior Lecturer in Nutrition, Sport and Exercise Sciences) is an academic member of staff with teaching duties and is the programme leader for the BSc Sport and Exercise Science. Liz is a Registered Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition (with specialisms in Sports Nutrition and Public Health), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Liz has several research interests in the fields of sports nutrition and physical activity, nutrition and health. Projects have included: 'ENDURE' Exercise, Nutrition and Diet Recommendations for extreme Endurance; ‘Nutrition for Health and Performance in Elite Youth Soccer Players’; ‘Health, social and environmental aspects of group walking in older adults’; ‘The inter-related health benefits of outdoor expeditions for young people’; and ‘The relationship between physical activity engagement, sleep, nutrition, and diabetes symptomatology’.
