Working alongside the Football Association in a part funded PhD, the primary aim of the project is to consider the historical developments and redevelopments of coach education courses with the intention of informing the new. Applying a pedagogical theoretical hermeneutic to the work will enable the facets of coach education to be explored. Broken into three parts the PhD is likely to consider;

- The historical developments of courses progresing towards the present day.
- To examine the expectations and experiences of coaches attending modern day courses.
- What is the reflexive influence of formal coach learning on the participants at a club
