Getting to the summer graduation ceremonies

Venues

Collection of tickets and gowns takes place at a different location to the ceremony itself. Below you will find details of the venues used for our summer ceremonies (8-12 July 2024).

LJMU Sport Building

Student preparations for July 2024 ceremonies will take place in the LJMU Sport Building. Students must arrive here first to pick up their tickets, collect their gowns and have their official photographs taken.

LJMU Sport Building opening times

Monday 8 July: 7.45am to 7pm
Tuesday 9 July: 
7.45am to 7pm
Wednesday 10 July: 7.45am to 7pm
Thursday 11 July: 7.45am to 7pm
Friday 12 July: 7.45am to 7pm

Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican)

Liverpool Cathedral is the city’s Anglican cathedral and all ceremonies during 2024 will be held here.

Location: St James’ Mount, Liverpool, L1 7AZ

Assisted access for the venues

When you register for your tickets, let us know if you or your guests have access requirements and need assistance or prior organisation by completing the relevant section of the registration form. We will contact you before your ceremony to discuss your requirements further.

If no arrangements for additional support are made prior to the ceremony, then LJMU cannot guarantee that requests will be met. However, every effort will be made to meet your requirements on the day.

Train information

Liverpool Lime Street Station is the nearest mainline train station.

Approximate walking times from Liverpool Lime Street:

  • 5 minutes to the LJMU Sport Building
  • 15 minutes to Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican)

Liverpool Central Station is the nearest local train station.

Approximate walking times from Liverpool Central Station:

  • 5 minutes to the LJMU Sport Building
  • 15 minutes to Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican)

Please allow plenty of time for your journey in case of unexpected delays.

Graduation parking 

Mount Pleasant Car Park
This multi-story car park is open 24 hours. It has no lifts, there is ground floor access from level five (via Brownlow Hill) for guests with accessible requirements.
Location: Mount Pleasant
Charges:

  • £1.20 per hour
  • £5 for over 3 hours

Approximate walking times:

  • 10 minutes to Metropolitan Cathedral
  • 15 minutes to Liverpool Cathedral

Brownlow Hill Car Park
This uncovered car park is open 24 hours. It is on the flat but has uneven ground underfoot in some areas.
Location: Mount Pleasant
Charges:

  • up to 2 hours - £3
  • up to 4 hours - £5
  • up to 6 hours - £6.50
  • up to 12 hours - £7.50

Approximate walking times:

  • 10 minutes to Metropolitan Cathedral
  • 15 minutes to Liverpool Cathedral

Liverpool Central Car Park
This multi-story car park is open 24 hours and has lift access to all floors.
Location: Heathfield Street, off Renshaw Street, L1 4AT
Charges:

  • £1.50 per hour
  • £10 all day

Approximate walking times:

  • 15 minutes to Metropolitan Cathedral
  • 15 minutes to Liverpool Cathedral

Liverpool Cathedral (Anglican) has limited parking for blue badge permit holders only. Access is via Upper Parliament Street (there will be no access to the main entrance via car). You will be able to drop off close to the venue.

There is on street pay and display parking around the area between the venues.
