LJMU opening times over the winter break
As semester one draws to a close and we get ready for the winter break, please see LJMU’s opening times for services and buildings below.
LJMU buildings
The university and most student services will close at 5pm on Friday 23 December 2022 and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 3rd January 2023.
Student Life Building will remain open 24/7
The Student Life Building will remain open 24/7 over the winter break and security will be based at reception. Catering outlets will remain closed although vending machines will be available.
Other buildings on campus
Most university buildings, will close on Friday 23 December 2022 and reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2023.
Building opening hours will also vary in the run up to the winter break, with the exception of the SLB and Libraries, with all buildings closed from 6pm, 19 –22 December, and 5pm on Friday 23 December.
Library buildings and services
Aldham Robarts and Avril Robarts Libraries will close on Friday 23 December at 5pm and reopen Tuesday 3rd January 2023 at 8.45am.
Library opening hours will also vary in the run up to the winter break, 17 –22 December, and you can view them here.
Library services staff will be available in the Student Life Building from 10am - 4pm on the following days:

Academic Achievement
The Academic Achievement Team’s drop in will be closed inclusively from 2pm on Wednesday 21 December – Tuesday 3 January.
Don’t forget you can still access useful self-study resources to help you with assignments and studying for exams, during this time.
Student Advice and Wellbeing (SAW)
The SAW drop in at the Student Life Building will close at 1pm on Friday 23rd December and reopen Tuesday 3 January.
Although support services are suspended for the winter break, the Student Life Building will be open throughout the period, and staff from SAW will be available on:

to offer general support for any queries that you might have, and to book an appointment for you when services re-open.

Student Futures: Careers, Employability and Enterprise
Student Futures’ services will close on Friday 23 December at 5pm and reopen on Tuesday 3 January at 9am.
Byrom Street Careers Zone will close on Friday 16 December, so all in-person appointments, as well as CV Cafes, will take place at the Student Life Building (SLB) Careers Zone only for the final week of the year (19 – 23 December).
Sport Building and gym
The Sport Building will close on Friday 23 December at 5pm and re-open on Tuesday 3 January at 9am. During the Winter Break a pop-up gym will be provided in the Student Life Building.

John Moores Students’ Union (JMSU)
JMSU will close at 5pm on Tuesday 20 December and will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 3 January.
JMSU’s social media and the JMSU inbox will be monitored over this period.
JMSU president Marie’s Winter Break socials will take place throughout the winter break (20th-29th December) and are open to all students, why not get involved.
