Biography

Jay Karecha is a researcher and lecturer in the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies. His research interests include active citizenship; neighbourhood regeneration; hate crime and sexual violence. He has led HEFCE-funded research into hate crime and sexual violence affecting students, and conducted research on behalf of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Merseyside examining the impact of austerity on community safety.

Prior to this, Jay was a Research Fellow with the European Institute for Urban Affairs. He has successfully led work for numerous UK and international projects including the ESPON 'Second Tier City-regions in Europe' project and the ESRC-funded project, 'UK City-regions: How Competitive in a Global Economy?' He has conducted numerous evaluations of urban regeneration schemes across the UK.
