Dr H. M. Belal is a Senior Lecturer of Operations/Quality Management and is part of Postgraduate Team at Liverpool Business School (LBS) in the Faculty of Business and Law, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). Prior to joining Liverpool John Moores University, he has held Faculty position at the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He has served as a Research Fellow of Knowledge Science Research Lab at the same school of UUM, and led Service Science Research Group. Prior to joining academia in 2015, Belal worked with JICA (Komagane training center) as a trainer.
Dr Belal’s principal research focuses on business operations process and service innovation using knowledge view for organizational sustainable management and practice. These are included in the “Service design, Servitization, Service-based Supply Chain, Knowledge-Creation Process, Knowledge Leadership, and Business Model Innovation”. He has a particular interest in SMEs/Social Enterprises in terms of knowledge-focused service value creation and delivery. He has published papers largely in the area of Service and knowledge Science.
Presently, Belal is the Module Leader and teaches Supply Chain Management for the MSc in Management (Advance Programme) along with ‘Innovation & Creativity for Business’ and ‘Researching and Developing a Business Plan for a New Venture’ for the undergraduate programme at LBS.
He supervises DBA and MSc Students (supervised one PhD and more than twenty MSc completions).
He is an ordinary member of the British Academy of Management (BAM) and founding member of Serviceology Society of Malaysia (SESMA).
He is also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) - now known as AdvanceHE.
