Dr H M Belal

Liverpool Business School

Dr H. M. Belal is a Reader in Operations and Quality Management and Programme Leader in MSc Management Programme at the School of Business and Management, Liverpool Business School (LBS) in the Faculty of Business and Law, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). He also acts as a Link Tutor and Programme Leader for Collaborative Programmes in upGrad, India. Dr Belal is also associated with the Woxsen School of Business, Woxsen University as a Distinguished Professor. Before joining Liverpool John Moores University, he has held a faculty position at the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). He has served as a Research Fellow of Knowledge Science Research Lab at the same school of UUM, and led the Service Science Research Group. He is a Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE).

Dr Belal’s principal research focuses on business operations management and service innovation using a Knowledge view for organisational sustainable management and practice. These are included in the “Operations and Technology Management, Service Innovation, Servitization, Supply Chain Management, Knowledge-Creation Process, and Business Model Innovation”. He has a particular interest in SMEs and Social Enterprises operations management and value delivery. He publishes papers largely in the area of Operations Management. He maintains a research record with publications in 3*, 2* CABS and internationally highly impactful publications.

Presently, Belal is the Module Leader and teaches Supply Chain Management and Managing Business Research for the MSc in Management along with 'Logistics and Transportation', ‘Innovation & Creativity for Business’ and ‘Researching and Developing a Business Plan for a New Venture, and Operations and Technology Management for the undergraduate programme at LBS, LJMU.

He supervises PhD, DBA and MSc Students (supervised two PhD and more than forty MSc completions).
He is a committee member of 'The Operational Research Society' an ordinary member of the 'British Academy of Management (BAM)' and a founding member of the 'Serviceology Society of Malaysia (SESMA)'.
He is also a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) - now known as AdvanceHE.
