Biography

Jane Harris is a researcher at the Public Health Institute. She is currently working on the RECO study: a realist evaluation of service models and systems for co-existing mental health and substance use conditions led by The University of Leeds.

Jane completed her PhD at the Public Health Institute in 2019. Her thesis was entitled "A mixed methods study examining the role of professional YouTubers in young people’s health behaviours in the UK: implications for health interventions" and considered the role that social media influencers can play in young people's health improvement.

Jane has previously worked as a Research Fellow in Children, Young People and Families at Edge Hill University. Prior to completing her PhD Jane worked in various public health research posts. Her work included the management of the North West HIV and AIDS and Merseyside drug related death monitoring systems and a range of health needs assessments and health service evaluations.

Jane’s main research interests are young people's health, social media for health improvement, digital and mixed methods, and the health needs of seldom heard groups.
