About the Institute and what we do
The IHR was established in 2006 as the virtual home of health research across LJMU, as a reflection of the vibrancy of LJMU’s research culture and its commitment to interdisciplinarity and driven by strategic developments in line with national and international health policy.
Over a decade on, the Institute continues to provide strategic leadership, inspiration and facilitation of a range of activities to support the internal and external research community and their combined research priorities.
Our research covers a range of health topics from the maintenance of the healthy body and mind (wellbeing, sport and physical activity, nutrition and children’s health), the prevention of illness (interventions, predictions and public health), to the understanding, management and treatment of disease and illness (pharmacy, nursing, pharmacology, biomedical science, therapeutics and health technology).
The structure of the IHR ensures that support is available for both research leaders and researchers.
