Work and experience life abroad

The Global Virtual Internship Programme offers a unique opportunity to gain work experience while the remote working skills you gain will be increasingly valuable to potential employers. It might not seem comparable to living and working abroad, but the programme will incorporate cultural exposure and connect you with employers and other interns across the world.

Available sectors for summer 2020:
  • Computer science and IT
  • Design
  • Education
  • Entrepreneurships and start-ups
  • Health, wellness and sports management
  • Hospitality, events and tourism
  • Green technology, sustainability and environment
  • Law
  • Marketing

  • Media/journalism

Applicants will be asked to list their top three preferences. We cannot guarantee you get placed in your first choice sector even if you are selected for the programme.

Application tips
  • Application by email submission only to:
  • The application asks you to limit each answer to 350 words. The form does not cut off at 350 words though, so you need to check this yourself
  • The application closes at midnight on 12 May but remember that the Study Abroad Team contact hours are 10-3.30 if you have questions or difficulties with the application. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept applications after the deadline

Selection and host allocation
  • All applications will be considered by their own School/Faculty for shortlisting
  • We expect to shortlist 20 applicants for online interviews on 20 and 21 May
  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted no later than 19 May with the interview questions and to arrange an interview slot
  • The selected students will also have to interview with our providers and in some cases the host company, in order to secure their place on the programme
