Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you don’t understand something

Here at LJMU students are at the heart of everything we do.

From the academics that teach you, to the help and support available from our Student Advice and Wellbeing team, Student Futures or Academic Achievement team, there’s so many friendly faces ready to help, so just ask.

Make the most of it, join societies or a sports team, be a course rep, apply for internships, etc.

There are so many opportunities that come your way once you become an LJMU student. The John Moores Students’ Union (JMSU) has a range of societies or sports teams to join. You can also apply to be a course rep, ensuring the student voice is heard for your school, plus there’s loads of volunteering opportunities across the city. What’s more, it’s a great way to meet people and make new friends who have similar interests to you.

Everyone feels homesick in the first few weeks, don’t worry it’s not just you

Starting university or beginning your postgraduate study in a new place is a big adjustment and it is completely normal to miss home. Our Student Advice and Wellbeing team and former students give their tips on dealing with homesickness here.

Find out about studying abroad, there are so many places you can go to

Our Go Global team has so many opportunities for you to study overseas. Whether you want to do a full year, a semester, a summer internship or a volunteering placement, the team can help find a spot with one of our 150 worldwide partners.

£25 to join the gym for a year! You can’t say no to that!

Here at LJMU we know how important exercise is to the health and wellbeing of our community. Therefore, LJMU has lowered the annual sports membership to just £25 for the year. This means 12 months of full access to fitness classes, the gym and the sports hall.

Enjoy the city of Liverpool

Choosing to study at LJMU means you are in the centre of the UK’s most exciting city. Take a look at Liverpool’s top spots here.
