Career Readiness

Decide

I have decided on a career plan, further study or starting my own business

If you have a specific plan in mind the next step is to start to build your experience to help you to ultimately secure the job you want.  Work-related learning (work-based learning, part-time jobs, internships, placement, voluntary experience) is vital to help you achieve your career goals and also enables you to develop skills, network with employers and gain sector insight.

Help and support available to you:

Discuss work experience options with an adviser

Call into a Careers Zone or phone us on 0151 231 2048/3719 to book an appointment with our Advisers to discuss general work experience options or to talk about gaining experience in a specific area or sector.

Complete the CareerSmart: Experience E-learning module

Our e-learning tool will help you to explore why work experience is important, what is out there and how to get it, and how to make the most of the experience using a series of videos and quizzes.  Find out how to access the module here.

LJMU Internship programme

The LJMU CareerSmart internship programme enables current level 5 and 6 students to take part in a paid internship with a local employer for 20 days to enable you to gain invaluable work experience.  Find out more about the programme here.

Careers Fairs

We arrange careers fairs, employer presentations, guest speakers, specialist workshops and regular employer visits to the Careers Zones where you can also meet and network with employers and find out about career opportunities and discuss career routes. Details of events can be found on our events booking system.
