How we'll help you achieve your dream career

Here are just a few ways we can help you reach your goals:

We will ensure our courses are professionally relevant

You will benefit from training and educational opportunities that are designed specifically to meet the sector’s needs. You can be confident that you will be gaining many of the prerequisite skills needed for a variety of careers in public health, environmental health and other health-related sectors.

Practical learning is a key part of your course

Taking part in work-related learning will give you first-hand experience of working in the sector. As a student on our Environmental Health programme, for example, you’ll be given the opportunity to undertake a project within a local authority or private or voluntary sector organisation to help develop your professional skills, knowledge base and add real value to your CV.

We will maintain our accreditations by professional bodies

The Environmental Health course at LJMU is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. Students will complete their food practical examination and integrated Professional Assessment which are required elements for registration. Completing the programme is your first step towards registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner. After your degree you will need to pass both the Portfolio of Professional Practice and a professional interview.

You will have access to careers support

Our careers service offers a wide range of resources to help you plan your next step, both while you are at university and after you graduate.

"I have recommended LJMU to just about anybody who will listen. My experience was amazing. When I meet first and second year students now on their placements I always think back fondly of my learning experience and sometimes even secretly wish I was back doing it all over again."
